An argument over a phone bill landed a mother-of-three in court.
Beverley Smith, 46, of Barley Close, in St Ives, pleaded guilty to an attack on her mother, Toni Coleman, on August 16, in Eynesbury.
Anthea Harris, prosecuting at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court, last Tuesday (November 10), said: “Toni Coleman was returning her three grandchildren to their mother when the defendant makes a comment about Mrs Coleman paying the phone bill for a phone she had provided for one of the children.”
The court heard that the comment was made “aggressively” and Smith slapped Mrs Coleman across the face, grabbed her and then a slapped her a second time, which “caused facial injuries.”
In mitigation, Samantha Marsh told the court: “It was a situation that had been building up for a period of time and in a moment of madness spiralled out of control.”
Smith was ordered to return to Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on December 1 for sentencing, pending the completion of pre-sentence reports.
