A shop that provides funding for vital care facilities for people in Sawtry and the surrounding villages is celebrating after a recent makeover.

The CARESCO charity shop, in Greenways, hosted its grand reopening on Tuesday with volunteers, staff and trustees all in attendance along with representatives from sponsors Travis Perkins and Sawtry Parish Council.

The community hub was given a makeover after an offer from timber and builders merchant, Travis Perkins, to supply free paint.

A week-long revamp was then carried out to the shop, which opened in April 2013, by enthusiastic volunteers from outside and within the charity.

Liz Coates, general manager said: "The CARESCO charity shop has exceeded all expectations since opening three and half years ago. It has become a favourite destination for bargain hunters, a community hub and a vital funding stream for the charity. The shop continues to be an outstanding and dynamic example of a community coming together to support others."
