Councillor David Underwood and his wife, Wendy, trekked along the river from Godmanchester through to St Neots, Bedford and Milton Keynes, arriving in Syresham, Northamptonshire on Friday, September 12. The couple covered the distance in five stages and have raised £400 for the mayors charities. Cllr Underwood said: We met up with the chairman of the parish council at Syresham at the finish. The walk went extremely well, we were particularly impressed with the way Milton Keynes has utilised the area around the river to make it nice to walk along. It also made us smile to see signs warning us of quicksand along the way as its not something you see every day. He added: We decided to do something a little bit different. If people want to donate, they can buy a charity bond which is either bronze, silver or gold to help the mayors charities. Money raised from the sponsored walk will go towards The Hunts Society for the Blind, scouting and guiding groups in Godmanchester and Acorn Cancer Support Group. Bonds are available from the town hall for donations of between £5 and £20. INFORMATION: To find out more and to donate, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
