Godmanchester dog owner Terri-Anne Walker hasn’t stopped smiling despite missing out on first place at Crufts.

The 42-year-old's Havanese Billy reached the final of the Scruffts Crossbreed of the Year at Birmingham's NEC after the 11-year-old canine was chosen as Most Handsome Dog at a semi-final event at Earls Court in November.

Terri-Anne, who has been deaf since birth and works as a support worker for deafblind charity Sense, admitted it was great to share her first experience of the world-famous Crufts with Billy.

"It's absolutely fabulous to be at Crufts, this is my first time here. It's such a massive wow and I had been looking forward to it for such a long time," she said.

"My mother is unwell so was unable to attend Crufts but she told me to go with Billy and put on a good show. I was a bit nervous going into the ring but it was a great experience.

"Billy is amazing, he has saved my life twice now, once to alert me in my car when it had problems and also when there was a gas leak in my house.

"He is a one in a million, he gives me so much confidence."
