Ten-year-old Yasmine Skinner is the first person in her school to read two million words .. and she did it in just three months. As a reward she spent a day with Huntingdon Library staff helping to sort and check out books and getting an inside peak of the librarys archive rooms. The Godmanchester Primary School pupil, who lives in Hartford, Huntingdon loves all forms of literature from adventure and mysteries to nature and history. Since September a new computer system means Yasmine and her classmates can keep track of the number of words they have read by recording the books they have finished and completing a quiz to determine understanding. Headteacher Philip Ellington said: She has provided an example to others and to younger children. They want their picture on the wall and they want to be recognised. Reading has always been a priority and high profile at the school, but the amount of reading has risen since Yasmine and the other pupils at the school have become famous for becoming millionaires.
