A GAS leak caused one lane on the A428 to be closed yesterday (May 9) at Caxton Gibbet.
Two fire crews were called to reports of the smell of gas at the old Yin Wah restaurant site in Caxton Gibbet at 5.10pm.
Firefighters arrived at the site, where the restaurant burned down four years ago, to find three large gas tanks which were leaking.
Police were required to close one lane on the A428 westbound while the fire service dealt with the gas leak.
The lane was re-opened by police at 6.45pm and firefighters had declared the area safe by 7.30pm.
