A GANG of youths damaged cars and houses in Huntingdon – before assaulting a man who challenged them.

The disorder took place in The Whaddons in Huntingdon at about 1.30am this morning (Wednesday), and police were called to the scene.

The group vandalised at least eight cars, smashing windows and breaking wing mirrors, and also targeted houses. They smashed windows in two properties and damaged a gate on one.

The group then assaulted a man after he came out of his house to challenge them, leaving him with slight injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Detective Sergeant Rich Sinclair said: “This was distressing for residents and has caused considerable inconvenience and expense.

“Anyone with information about what happened should contact police.”

Eight teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident and are in custody at Huntingdon police station. They include three boys aged 16, boys aged 13, 15 and 17, and men aged 18 and 19.
