Thousands lined the towns streets on Saturday for the Commonwealth-themed carnival procession led by carnival queen Katie Northrop and princesses Ava Frohock and Leontina Koleva. Wheatfields School won the best overall float, with other wins for the Snowman Festival, Smart Travel and CIFA Majorettes. On the Sunday, more than 5,000 people turned up for the music festival at Hill Rise Park, which featured 11 bands, including Matt and Jess, Glamtastic and Up and Atom. St Ives mayor Councillor Brian Luter, who joined the procession in a beach buggy, said: It was fantastic to see so many people out and about in the town for both events. There were a number of funfair rides and foodstalls, which we would not have been able to have at the previous venue, Warners Park. The float competition was won by Westfield as it had the best decoration, the fun the children were having on the float and it met the theme of the Commonwealth.
