CHILDREN were taught how to make slime with Professor Chaos at Cambourne’s third annual Youth Fest.

The event was bigger than ever with an estimated 5,000 people enjoying the free activities on offer at Cambourne Recreation Ground in Back Lane on Saturday (July 10).

Attractions included samba dancers, stilt walkers, a carnival parade, Extreme Globeriders stunt BMX riders and live music.

Other activities included mad science workshops, a creepy crawlies play area, children’s entertainers and storytelling.

David McEwan-Cox, chairman of Cambourne Youth Partnership said: “It went really well. The first year we had 500 people attend, last year that figure rose to 2,000 and this year was our biggest ever with 5,000 people turning out.”

Mr McEwan-Cox added: “Youth Fest provides resources for the community and builds community spirit. It gives youngsters the opportunity to try new experiences such as pony rides, archery and power kiting. It was an exciting day for all.”

The event cost about 14,000 to stage and was supported by businesses and organisations including South Cambridgeshire District Council, Cambourne Parish Council, Morrisons, Community Futures and Cambourne Business Park.
