RAMSEY’S biggest carnival procession for many years took place on Saturday as seven floats and several groups of walkers took to the streets, embracing the fairy tales theme.
The winner of the best float was Head Start Nursery, with characters from Alice in Wonderland, while second place went to Abbey College for its float, The Enchanted Forest.
The winning walkers were the Foxes After School Club with children dressed as pirates and princesses and second prize went to a combined group of Ramsey Rotary Club, the Kyte youth group and the cubs, presenting The Pied Piper of Hamlin.
The procession moved down The Great Whyte and Ramsey High Street to the grounds of Abbey College where there were dance displays by the Michelle Gaudi School of Dance and Molly dancing by pupils at Ramsey Junior School, as well as Robbie Williams and Elvis tribute acts.
Organiser Candy Dodsley said: “It was very, very busy and the biggest procession we had in many years. It was really good, an excellent day.”
The carnival, which is a fundraiser for charities in the town, takes place every other year.
