Hundreds of people across Huntingdonshire made their faces funny for money in aid of Comic Relief on Friday (March 13).

Armed with red noses and wigs and decorated faces, they flooded into schools and workplaces to help those in need across the UK and Africa.

Children at Thongsley Fields, Huntingdon, raised £160. They held a dance off, with pupils offering their silliest shapes to I Like to Move It and prizes available for funniest face and craziest hair.

At Thorndown School, St Ives, pupils dressed in pyjamas and added £672.29 to the total.

Staff at Specsavers, Huntingdon held a bake and book sale and also sold Red Nose Day comedy glasses, raising more than £400.

Huntingdon building services firm Fairhurst Ward Abbots raised more than £50 with games including guess the baby pictures and the number of sweets in the jar.

Luminus employees sported red accessories to make their faces ‘funny for money’, raising more than £250.

Hartford Juniors were visited by a face painter for the children and raised more than £400 with the help of a bake sale.

At St Ivo School, where £2,002.55 was raised, Year 8s held an ice bucket challenge and voted for history teacher Scott Bamber to get a soaking in exchange for a donation. They also created a staff video which has received more than 16,000 views.

Staff at Purser and Luxford car dealership in St Ives washed cars, raising £88.

There were various fundraisers at RAF Wyton, including a cook-off contest, a fancy dress fun run, and a coffee and cake morning.

In St Neots, pupils and staff at Crosshall Infants painted their faces and wore wigs and hair bands, raising £394 from donations and £810 from selling red noses.

At The Round House Primary Academy children took part in a joke competition and made cakes to sell, decorated their faces, made donations, sold noses and raised £447.09.

Priory Juniors also had fun decorating their faces and hair, contributing £211.85 to the total.

As The Hunts Post went to press, £78,082,988 had been donated for the charity event nationwide.
