YELLING remain fourth in the league despite going down to a disappointing defeat to league leaders Histon on Saturday.
Histon invited the home side to bat on a green and slow wicket and runs looked to be at a premium against bowlers finding the right line and length.
Opener Ian Reed (51) did his best to embarrass the Histon captain's decision with a grafting innings and the score was given some substance with lower middle order knocks by Ben Smith (45) and Sam Johnson (14), leading to a respectable 158-8.
Any hope that Yelling would take the spoils gradually faded as the bowlers struggled to find the spot. Despite Steve Tack taking a wicket, the Histon batsmen always looking comfortable against the bowlers and a nine wicket win at 162-1 was taken with ease.
