A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place across the East of England today (Thursday) as Arctic conditions continue to hold sway.
The Met Office has again urged caution for road users and those travelling as sub-zero temperatures as icy roads make conditions treacherous.
The latest warning remains in place throughout the day.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Further snow showers are expected on Thursday, accompanied by very low temperatures. There is the possibility of travel delays on roads, stranding some vehicles and passengers, and delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.
“Some rural communities could become or remain cut off. Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.”
Further snow showers are expected, with the potential for up to six inches in localised flurries.
The spokesman added: “Snow showers will bring variable snow cover, with the potential for a further 5-10 cm and possibly 15 cm of snow in places where showers are most frequent, whereas some places nearby will receive only small amounts. “Strong winds will likely lead to drifting of lying snow, as well as a severe wind chill.”
