A nine-year-old football fan from Alconbury enjoyed the experience of a lifetime after she won a competition to be a mascot for the Champions League final.
Freya Sims, who attends Alconbury Primary School, was selected from among thousands of hopefuls to attend Saturday’s showpiece final between Real Madrid and Juventus, joining Madrid defender Dani Carvajal as the players emerged onto the field.
The final was held in Cardiff and, as part of the experience, courtesy of
sponsors Mastercard, Freya and her parents, Neil and Vicky, and brother Logan, 7, were invited to the Welsh capital for the weekend.
They were put up in a hotel and were also given two tickets to attend the game itself.
Mum Vicky said: “Freya was absolutely thrilled, she was given the kit she wore for the final to take home and a replica Real Madrid kit as well. She was also given a coat which she wore to school on the Tuesday because a few of her friends didn’t believe her!”
