CROWDS of pancake lovers lined the High Street in Huntingdon as the annual Huntingdon Pancake race got underway.

CROWDS lined the High Street in Huntingdon yesterday (Tuesday) as the annual pancake races flipped their way through town.

Schools, community groups, workers and councillors joined in the Shrove Tuesday tradition.

A series of races was run - and walked - between St Benedict's Court and the Market Square, including the 'chain gang' race which this year was contested by mayors Gordon Thorpe (St Neots), Alan Welton (Godmanchester), David Hodge (St Ives) and chairman of Huntingdonshire District Council, Councillor Jeff Dutton.

And it was Cllr Dutton who crossed the line first, with Cllr Hodge coming a close second.

The winner of each race received a medal and everyone who took part was treated to a chocolate Easter egg.
