Five men from Suffolk have been released on bail following their arrests in connection with a string of burglaries in Huntingdonshire villages.

A 17-year-old from Bury St Edmunds was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle, and has been bailed to return on January 21. An 18-year-old man from Stanton, an 18-year-old man from Stowupland, a 20-year-old man from Ixworth, and a 21-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds were all arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on bail until the same date. They will be required to return to the Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre.

They were arrested in connection with six burglaries in Hemingford Grey, one in Hemingford Abbots, three in Hilton, two in Offord D’Arcy and one in Offord Cluny between October 30 and November 16.

A police spokesman said that the method of breaking in was the same in most incidents, involving offenders forcing entry through a rear door or window and stealing jewellery.
