FIVE people were injured in a crash on the A14 westbound carriageway at Hemingford Grey on Wednesday morning.

Four were taken to hospital following the collision, which police confirmed involved “several cars and a lorry”. It is not known how serious the injuries are, but they are not believed to be life-threatening. Three were taken to Peterborough District Hospital, and one to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

The smash happened just before 8am and caused tailbacks across the region as motorists looked for alternative routes.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said that a rolling roadblock had been put in place as debris, oil and water on the road was cleared. Traffic started to be released at 10.30am and the road was expected to clear within 30 minutes.
