Firefighters rescued a calf from a river in Buckden.

Two crews from Huntingdon and a crew from St Neots were called at about 4.15pm on Wednesday (September 21) to Buckden Marina.

Wearing dry suits and using a rescue sled, firefighters pulled the calf from the River Great Ouse where it had become stuck on a steep bank.

Station commander Scott Feveyear said: "The calf was in distress when the crews arrived. It was calling up to its parents on the river bank and they were calling back so there was quite a lot of noise.

"The crews safely rescued it and reunited it with its family."

The crews returned to their stations by about 5.45pm.
