Firefighters battled a blaze at a bin store in Ramsey yesterday (January 1).

Firefighters battled a blaze at a bin store in Ramsey yesterday (January 1).

Two crews from Ramsey were called to the scene at 9.30am, where they found three large wheelie bins well alight under an archway to flats in Maltings Yard.

Wearing breathing apparatus, they used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire which had spread to the wall cavity.

They also removed part of the roof and wall to fully extinguish the fire before returning to their stations by 10.30am.

The cause of the fire was deliberate and anyone with any information should contact police on 101.
