Firefighters have called off a strike that was planned for tomorrow night.
The Fire Brigade Union announced at 1.20pm today (Friday) that it had cancelled the industrial action over Government plans for firefighters’ pensions. A strike was due to take place between 6.30pm and 11.30pm.
Chris Strickland, deputy chief fire officer at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We are pleased the FBU has called off this strike because any industrial action impacts on our ability to provide a resilient service to community. We hope ongoing negotiations between the Government and the FBU prove to be successful.”
A four-hour strike previously took place on Wednesday, September 25.
