Fire crews from Huntingdon, Sawtry and Ramsey were sent to Solo Cup, in St Peters Road, at 1.27pm after a fire broke out on the first floor of the factory. Station commander Martin Ockenden, incident commander, said: Crews did extremely well to prevent this fire spreading. The fire was close to a sandwich panel wall and if it had got into this wall, it would have made firefighting operations more difficult and would have been harder to extinguish. The building was very heavily smoke logged, meaning visibility was hard for firefighters and they used gas cooling techniques and thermal imaging cameras to identify the machinery that was involved in the fire. The fire, which was caused accidentally by equipment, was under control by 5pm.
