Drivers were bemused this morning to see a young swan waddling on the A1 in Eaton Socon.
According to the RSPB it is believed that the lost swan may have been stunned after a crash landing.
Cambridgeshire firefighter Joe Gacon came across the swan on his way to work and decided to put it in his car, with the help of a member of the public.
Mr Gacon took the dazed bird to St Neots fire station where the RSPB came and picked it up.
The swan will be returning to the water later where in can be reunited with its family.
