Firefighters freed a woman who suffered a serious head injury after a three-car accident on the A14 yesterday (Sunday).

One crew from Huntingdon and one from St Neots, plus one from Thrapston and one from Raunds in Northamptonshire, were called to the eastbound carriageway between junction 14 for Bythorn and 15 for Catworth at about 12.14pm after the crash between a VW Golf, Volvo and Toyota Corolla.

Magpas Helimedix Doctor Nick Foster and paramedic Simon Standen arrived via air ambulance and treated the woman, who is in her 40s.

She was then taken to Kettering Hospital in a stable condition by land ambulance. On arrival, she was conscious and breathing.

Two East of England Ambulance Service paramedic crews and an East Midlands Ambulance Service rapid response paramedic also assessed a small number of other patients at the scene. No-one involved suffered life-threatening injuries.
