Fire at industrial unit in Godmanchester was accidental, investigation reveals

An industrial unit in Godmanchester caught fire this morning (Wednesday).

Firefighters from Huntingdon, Sawtry and St Neots were called to Cohort Way at about 7am and arrived. to find a fire in a single storey industrial unit, measuring around 330sqm.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The building was heavily smoke logged. Wearing breathing apparatus the crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel and a jet and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.”

An investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was accidental.
