Firefighters battled for more than eight hours to extinguish a pallet fire that was started by arsonists on an industrial estate yesterday (Sunday).
Crews from Huntingdon and Ramsey joined colleagues from Stanground, March and Whittlesey at Broadway, in Yaxley, at about 4.30pm.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a large amount of wooden pallets. They extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets, before returning to their stations by midnight.”
A water carrier and an incident command unit were also called to attend the blaze.
An investigation revealed the cause of the fire to be deliberate.
