Arsonists set fire to buildings on the former RAF based in Upwood yesterday (Tuesday).

Crews from Ramsey and Huntingdon were called to RAF Upwood, off Upwood Road, at about 1pm to reports of a blaze.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Smoke was issuing from a derelict garage and firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire."

Firefighters returned to stations by 2.15pm.

An investigation determined that the cause of the fire was deliberate.
