A Christmas fayre held in Little Paxton in December raised money for village groups as well as an ongoing project to fund repairs at St James’ Church.
The annual event, held at Little Paxton Village Hall, included a Santa’ grotto, craft stalls, tombola, and a raffle and local clubs and groups were also in attendance. The event raised about £800 for the church.
St James’ Church is more than 1,000 years old and has undergone extensive repair and re-ordering work in recent years, including the installation of under floor heating, damp treatment and repairs to the church tower.
A service was also held in September, 2012, to mark the reopening of the church after a £400,000 restoration project, which included work on the church clock and the bells.
Annette Reade, team rector of the church, said: “It was a very successful event and we had a steady stream of people all day. The fayre raised a significant amount of money for St James’ but it also gave local groups and clubs, who make a huge contribution to the village, the chance to raise some funds and let people know what they do.”
