COUNCILLORS on Monday gave the green light to a plan to transform an empty shop in Fenstanton High Street into a ‘healthy’ takeaway.
Huntingdonshire District Council’s development management panel accepted the advice of council planners on Monday to approve the change of use, in spite of objections from the parish council and neighbours, including a pre-school nursery.
What used to be a hearing aid shop will provide grilled or skewered food served with boiled rice or salad.
The proposed business, which is next door to the Tudor Thai restaurant and next door but one to the Ladybird Day Nursery, would create seven full-time and three part-time jobs and operate seven days a week between 5pm and 11pm, the applicant said.
The objectors were concerned about parking, road safety, the impact of proposed ventilation flues on neighbours and children playing in the nursery garden, the fire risk, litter, noise and anti-social behaviour.
