A MOTORCYCLIST was killed just minutes after Cambridgeshire police officers signalled to him to slow down.
Pawel Wysocki, 23 had only owned his Yamaha motorbike for six days when he crashed going round a bend in Low road, Fenstanton, on June 18, an inquest heard yesterday.
Only minutes before Mr Wysocki of Hilton Road, Fenstanton crashed, two officers attending a nearby disturbance heard his bike “being ridden hard” south down Low Road and signalled to him to slow down.
Mr Wysocki slowed but then drove round the officers at an estimated speed of 40-50 mph.
Pc Peter Bimson, a collision investigator, told Huntingdon coroner’s court: “The estimate of 40 to 50mph is likely to be an underestimate. The cause of the crash was Mr Wysocki losing control of his motorcycle while negotiating a right-hand bend.
“It may well have been an overreaction to the presence of the bend.”
Mr Wysocki died at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield on August 12 after being transferred to its specialist spinal unit on July 29.
Coroner Belinda Cheney recorded a narrative verdict that he died from significant injuries sustained following a road traffic accident.
