SANTA has got a new sleigh - and he’s bringing it to the streets of Huntingdonshire.

Huntingdon Rotary Club members Roy White, Paul Wells and Tim Garner built the sleigh from scratch using a standard trailer chassis.

It boasts a built-in sound system and lights powered from on on-board battery, meaning it does not need a noisy generation or a mains connection.

The sleigh has already appeared at the Huntingdon Christmas lights switch-on and will be used by Santa and his team of Rotarians on their street collections around Stukeley Meadows on December 7, 11 and 12.

The group will also use the sleigh at their collections at Tesco in Huntingdon on December 19, 20 and 21.

Huntingdon Rotary Club president Gloria Heywood praised the team for designing and building an “elegant and robust sleigh which should support the Club’s fundraising efforts for many Christmases to come”.
