A carer who died in an accident on the A1198 between Godmanchester and Papworth Everard was about to become a foster parent.

Louise Hardy, of Huntingdon, who was 33, was involved in a collision with a lorry at Lattenbury Hill at about 9.30pm on Monday, November 3.

She worked as a carer for elderly people and had been returning home after completing her final visit of the day when the crash happened.

One of three girls to parents Rob and Barbara, Louise grew up in Enfield, North London, and trained to be a nursery nurse, going on to become a child minder.

She moved to Huntingdon about three years ago for a change of scenery.

Her younger sister, Nicola, 29, said: “She has looked after so many children and had an impact on so many children’s lives.

“In the last year she decided she wanted to foster children and she had just qualified as a foster parent, six weeks before the accident. She was just waiting to give a first child a home.”

In her spare time, Louise kept an allotment in Huntingdon. She was also a keen balloonist and enjoyed entertaining children at parties for family and friends.

Her family plan to set up a foundation in her name in support of a children’s charity. They also intend to create a memorial garden, reflecting Louise’s love of the outdoors.

Louise leaves her parents and sisters Andrea and Nicola.

An inquest into the accident was opened and adjourned last week and investigations will continue before a full hearing next year.

Her funeral is due to take place at Enfield Crematorium at 1.15pm on Thursday, November 27.
