DID you know you can save £65 per year on your fuel bills just by turning your room thermostat down 1oC?

The research was carried out by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) which provides free impartial advice to help you save money and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from your home.

The EST also recommends a householder saves energy by using:

# A programmer

# A room thermostat

# Thermostatic radiator valves

# A thermostat on the hot water tank.

ST IVES residents now have the opportunity to cut their household energy costs through a new energy saving project being run by Cambridgeshire County Council.

The scheme - one of the first in the country of its kind - aims to help St Ives households become more energy efficient by making real-time energy display meters available to loan from their local library.

The energy meters are currently available for St Ives residents free of charge for one week.

There is an accompanying 'home energy guide' supplied with the meters giving energy saving advice to householders.

The scheme is open to people receiving pension credits, attendance allowance, disability living allowance and other income related benefits.

Application forms are available by phoning HDC on 01480 388388.
