An elderly woman was rescued from her home last night (Monday) following a fire in Somersham.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Crews from Huntingdon, Chatteris and Cottenham were called to a sheltered accommodation bungalow in Springfield at about 9.13pm.
The woman, in her 90s, was rescued by firefighters and was treated for smoke inhalation, and was given oxygen at the scene.
She was later left in the care of paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a fan to clear the smoke.
A spokesman for EEAST said: “The woman was later taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for further care. Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening or serious.”
Crews returned to their stations by 10.37pm.
An investigation is currently being carried out into the cause of the fire.
