KIMBOLTON School’s Combined Cadet Force was visited by HRH the Duke of Gloucester on Thursday.

The Duke was the reviewing officer for the CCF’s annual general inspection and he was joined by the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire High Duberley. Also present was General Sir John McColl, the colonel of the Royal Anglian Regiment, the CCF’s affiliated Army unit.

Lieutenant Colonel Susan Camp, the CCF’s commanding officer, retires this year after 23 years’ service with the force and it was to mark her long and distinguished career that the school arranged for the Duke to take part in the special event.

Alison Ainsworth said: “The day went really, really well. General Sir John McColl stayed for the whole day and addressed the cadets at the end of the day. He said he was very impressed and said the whole event was a ‘triumph’. It was a fantastic thing for him to say and the Duke also said he was very impressed.

“It was also a wonderful day for Susan Camp and the cadets gave an absolutely splendid display – it was a fantastic tribute to the great contingent she has built up.”
