The mayor of St Neots handed out the proceeds of his charity fund at the town council’s annual meeting on May 16.

Representatives from the four charities attended the meeting held at The Priory Centre. Eaton Socon Pre-school, Saints Boxing Club, the Steve van de Kerkhove Cancer Fund and Small Steps charities were all presented with cheques for £2,500.

Mayor of St Neots, Derek Giles, said: “I wanted to support local St Neots-based charities, rather than national ones, and in particular the charity for my late colleague and friend and former councillor, Steve van de Kerkhove, who as we all know, did so much for our town. The challenge was to raise £10,000 and I am delighted to announce that this sum was achieved. I cannot thank you, our residents and local businesses, enough for your continued support of our fundraising efforts, which has been very much appreciated. Every penny raised is going to the four charities.”
