The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain and strong winds which are expected to develop over Cambridgeshire on Friday and Saturday.
TThe forecaster said disruption to power and transport is possible, with driving conditions affected by standing water and spray.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
The warning could also delay public transport, with a spokesman saying: "Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services."
