A developer has submitted plans to build dozens of new homes in Brampton.
Abbey Properties Cambridgeshire has applied to Huntingdonshire District Council for permission to build 63 homes on an eight-acre site to the north of Thrapston Road.
In documents submitted to the authority, the developer noted: “The development is proposed to utilise and retain much of the existing landscaping around the site perimeter to assist screening and to enhance the character of the area.
“Existing tree cover will be augmented with additional sensitive landscaping. Within the site, the landscaped areas act as a focal point combined with areas of public open space which will provide positive amenity for prospective residents.
“Additionally the central access road provides easy access into and out of the site, aiding permeability, as well as new footpaths to facilitate pedestrian/cycle accessibility.”
The developer noted that a “very small area” of the application site is at risk of flooding and, as such, would remain undeveloped, adhering with advice from the Environment Agency.
The developer added that the mix of housing had yet to be decided, with a decision to be made at a later stage of the planning process.
“Given the location and scale of the proposal it is not considered that the development of this site would harm the characteristics of the landscape character area. The scale of the proposal is not such that it would create adverse effects,” the developer added.
“The proposal would provide an opportunity to enhance the character of the area by restoring native wetland trees into the landscape to the boundaries of the site.”
