A developer has applied for planning permission to build up to 150 homes in Brampton.
Warwick-based Catesby Estates has applied to Huntingdonshire District Council for permission, in principle, to locate the houses on a 30-acre site north of Dorling Way, which is currently being used for agriculture.
The developer said it approached Brampton Parish Council in October last year with an initial proposal for the housing, and made a second presentation last month.
A public exhibition was held in November in which village residents were invited to have their say on the proposal.
In consultation with the district council, Catesby said: “In total 150 new homes are proposed as part of the development. The mix will comprise a range of dwellings with a focus on family houses and houses for first time buyers.
“Importantly, reflecting local need, Catesby have confirmed that 40 per cent of the new dwellings - 60 homes - will be affordable in nature, providing a mix of tenures and house types.
“The precise nature of the affordable housing provision will be subject to discussion and agreement with Huntingdonshire District Council.”
Catesby said that the development would feature more than two acres of open space and would also boost pedestrian and cycle links with the village.
The firm added: “The proposed development will deliver considerable benefits in terms of new homes, community investment, landscape and environmental improvements.
“In particular, it will deliver a significant number of affordable homes in a location where there is a clear and identified need for this type of property.”
