Cambridgeshire police were called just before 1pm this afternoon (Thursday) after reports of a lorry shedding part of its load of straw bales onto the B1043 near Alconbury.
Both north and southbound carriageways were closed while six bales were removed, causing lengthy delays for motorists.
Nobody was injured in the incident and police confirmed that the road has now been re-opened.
