The Cromwell Museum in Huntingdon has announced a packed programme of evening lectures for this autumn.

Organised in association with the Friends of the Cromwell Museum, the event, which starts next month, will feature three well known speakers,

Lucy Moore, Angus Haldane and Professor John Morrill.

All three will be speaking in Huntingdon on aspects of the period in which Oliver Cromwell lived. The lectures are being held on Wednesdays from November 21 to December 5. Money raised from the programme will help fund the museums’ future development.

The first talk, on November 21, is at Huntingdon Town Hall, and features the historian and broadcaster Lucy Moore. Her talk is entitled ‘the Life and Times of a Civil War Heroine’. Lucy’s talk tells the remarkable story of Ann Fanshawe who found herself in Oxford at the height of the English Civil War when it was being used as the Royalist capital.

The second talk, on November 28 at All Saint’s Church, Huntingdon, and is being led by art historian and author Angus Haldane. The talk, portraits of the civil war, looks at the paintings and the stories behind them.

The final talk, on December 5, at Huntingdon Town Hall, is by Professor John Morrill of the University of Cambridge, and is entitled: Oliver Cromwell: myth and reality.
