The happy couple tied the knot at Windsor Castle as crowds lined the streets of the town and millions of people across the country watched the event televised live.

In Huntingdonshire, a range of events to mark the occasion were held, including live streams, tea parties, and barbecues. Here are just a few of the events that took place in the district:

• Old Weston held a joint celebration on Saturday, when the royal wedding coincided with the official opening of the first phase of the children’s’ playground refurbishment.

During the street party Mandy Thompson performed the opening ceremony of the new playground equipment, which was funded by a grant from the Amey Community Fund.

• Pupils from years one and two at Kimbolton Prep Schoo held Royal wedding celebrations. They took part in a wedding assembly. Reception and year 6 pupils enjoyed a barbecue and picnic lunch on the school grounds.
