Huntingdonshire District Council is taking action to move a group of travellers who moved on to the Bridge Place car park in Godmanchester.

It is understood to be the same group who pitched up at the town’s Judith’s Field recreation area earlier this week.

The travellers arrived at the car park on Thursday.

Council executive leader Graham Bull said: “The district council is taking action in respect of an illegal traveller encampment at Bridge Place car park, Godmanchester, and officers have begun legal proceedings to remove the travellers from the site.”

Godmanchester Town Council had closed the Judith’s Field recreation area and advised residents to stay away after the travellers arrived but reopened it after the group moved off.
