CASTLE Hill House in Huntingdon, wartime headquarters of the RAF’s Pathfinder Force, looks set to become offices for a firm of architects after Huntingdonshire District Council’s cabinet changed its mind about selling the Grade II*-listed building for 575,000.

HDC’s executive leader, Councillor Jason Ablewhite, said detailed market information that had become available since the previous decision two months ago not to accept the offer had changed cabinet members’ minds.

“At the time, we didn’t feel we had all the information we required to make a judgment that was entirely transparent. Now our view is that this is a good offer in the present market: it has limited use because it’s listed.”

Cllr Ablewhite would not name the new owners until contracts had been exchanged.
