Travellers have set up camp in a St Neots car park, moving dozens of cars and caravans onto the site.

The group is understood to have arrived at Riverside car park earlier this week, on land owned by Huntingdonshire District Council.

According to residents and local businesses, there are about 20 caravans and 40 cars currently in the area.

A St Neots resident told The Hunts Post: “Not for the first time travellers have moved into our Riverside car park. Residents and local businesses are up in arms.”

In a statement the district council said: “We are aware of the illegal traveller incursion at St Neots Riverside car park, appropriate legal proceeding have been instigated to secure their removal. Failure to follow the correct procedure for eviction may lead to a delay.”
