Michael Hamilton, from Benfleet, in Essex was killed following a serious collision on a stretch of road between Earith and Haddenham on March 13. On Wednesday (March 23), assistant coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Belinda Cheney, opened the inquest into the death at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon. Mrs Cheney told the hearing that Mr Hamilton had been riding his motorcycle when he was thrown from his bike and he died from multiple injuries. On the day, Cambridgeshire police were called to the crossroads in Haddenham after reports from a police officer who had passed the scene at around 12pm. A crew from the East of England Ambulance Service, as well as medics from the MAGPAS air ambulance attended the scene. It is believed that the accident involved the motorcycle and two other vehicles, a silver Mitsubishi Shogun and a Volkswagen Golf. Following the accident the road remained closed between the junctions for the A1421 and the B1381 until around 7pm to allow a collision investigator to attend the scene. The inquest has been adjourned until September 8 at Lawrence Court at 11am for reports to be complied.
