Civic dignitaries were joined by members of military associations for a flag raising ceremony in St Neots on Monday.
St Neots mayor, Councillor Derek Giles, attended the ‘fly a flag’ event on Commonwealth Day and was joined by fellow councillors and standard bearers. He read out the Commonwealth Affirmation before raising he flag. The 52 member states, who are part of the commonwealth, represent 2.5 billion people - a third of the world’s population. Local and national flag raising events are held to bring greater understanding and appreciation of the values and principles of the Commonwealth Charter.
