Giants, giraffes, and an Oompa Loompa were among the colourful creations at Holywell Primary School earlier this month, as pupils gathered to celebrate Roald Dahl Day.
Delving into the books, children spent September 16 dressed as the likes of Willy Wonka, the BFG, his companion Sophie, Matilda, and even the dreaded Miss Trunchbull.
“We did it to celebrate 100 years of Roald Dahl and the day went brilliantly,” teacher Janet Nicholson said.
The school, which was decorated for the event, also saw pupils make props for the day, such as massive cut-out ears for the BFG.
Youngsters have also been learning about the famous author and his stories in lessons, writing their own dreams for different characters and looking at the language used in the books. “In my class, we made little badges to celebrate as well,” Mrs Nicholson added.
