Huntingdonshire Regional College tutor Gary Spackman will be swapping his overalls for shorts and trainers to raise money for a new minibus.

Mr Spackman, a motor vehicle teacher, will run a 66-mile route to raise money for a new minibus for the college.

Gary, a regular marathon runner and BRJ Running Club member, is taking on the Route 66 challenge on October 9 with a target of raising £2,000 towards an adapted minibus.

This will give disabled students improved access to learning opportunities through work experience and community projects.

Mr Spackman said: "The college is a vital part of the community and I'm delighted to run in support of the tremendous work it does with young people in the area."

He will begin the run from the college and cover St Ives, Swavesey, St Neots, Huntingdon, Sawtry and Ramsey before returning to the college.

Mr Spackman will be supported by other members of staff and students along the route. Mitsa Ltd, a family run business in St Ives and supporter of the college, is donating Mr Spackman's running kit.
