On Friday, Kinesis, based in Colmworth Business Park, St Neots, dedicated its Business of the Year win to staff member Sharron Hopkins after she died suddenly on October 29 at the age of 44, just a week before the awards.

Commercial director Roy Testa said: “It’s been a real shock for her family and colleagues.

“She was really bubbly, she was one of the nicest people you could ever come across,” he said.

According to colleagues, Ms Hopkins had selected her outfit for the awards at The Burgess Hall, in St Ives, and had booked a hotel for the evening.

“She was really looking forward to coming along, as I think this was the first awards ceremony that she had been to,” Mr Testa said.

Ms Hopkins joined the company as a part of the marketing team two years ago as a graphic designer. The cause of Ms Hopkins’ death is not yet known.

“Over the 25 years that I have been working with graphic designers she was one of the best as she always had time for anyone in our team here.

“Sharron was very instrumental in creating and strengthening the brand of Kinesis which was huge work that had been carried out the last two years.”

The company also took home the Business Development Award on the night, which was also dedicated to Ms Hopkins by managing director Jamie Gallifant.

Mr Testa added: “She was really happy in her role, she felt like she was part of the family – Sharron will be hugely missed by everyone who worked with her.”

The company has sent its condolences to Ms Hopkins’ family and friends.

Earlier this year the firm was awarded the Queen’s Award for Inter national Trade and the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce Global Awards for Export Growth, and Ms Hopkins was a part of the company-wide celebration at its UK headquarters.

Now in its 19th year, The Hunts Post Huntingdonshire Business Awards brought together a range of industries and highlighted the men and women making a difference in the district’s workplaces.
