Firefighters tackled fires in Bluntisham, Spaldwick and Old Weston as residents tried to combat the cold. At 3.30pm on Friday (March 16), a crew from St Ives was sent to Ferriman Road in Spaldwick to extinguish a chimney fire. The following day, firefighters put out a fire in a house in Wood End in Bluntisham where flames from a wood burner spread to the chimney. Shortly before 8.30am on Sunday, fire crews from Kimbolton, Cambridge and Thrapston were called to a home in Brington Road, in Old Weston. Firefighters used a turntable ladder to allow them drop water down a chimney to extinguish a fire between the liner and brick structure. A fire service spokesperson said: Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and the brickwork inspected at least once a year. This will help to prevent a chimney fire. ARSONISTS set fire to a bin near to the Lord Protector pub in Huntingdon. At 8.45pm on Friday (March 16) a fire crew was called to the bin fire on Buttsgrove Way. Fire investigators said the fire was started deliberately. INFORMATION: If you have any information call Cambridgeshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
